PARADOX(ES)
Beyond Conventional Wisdom
Much more than figures of speech, paradoxes provide respite in a world plagued by conventional wisdom. Indeed, they are a bastion against over-simplified thought and preconceived ideas. They invite us to think, open up perspectives and encourage us to accept difference.
So, let’s fully embrace paradoxes! Let’s use them to blow the whistle on conjecture, to stir-up controversy, to allow ourselves to be surprised and to relish the dissonance they generate. Let’s lay bare our idiosyncrasies, discuss the challenges we face and debate that which divides us as we move forward towards a common goal.

TEDx: ideas worth spreading
TED was created in 1984 in Monterey, California as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged.
It brings together innovators from all disciplines and covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues. TED’s mission is to spread ideas.
As such, it makes available to the public videos of its best conferences where brilliant speakers from all walks of life and areas of expertise gather to share ideas that change the world.
TEDxCelsa: innovation and humanism
The TEDx license is awarded to universities, companies or libraries that would like to organise their own TED conference.
CELSA is a prestigious French communications and journalism school that belongs to the Sorbonne University system. It is also an excellent, publicly funded research institution that offers degrees in journalism, communication, marketing, advertising, media studies and human resources.
Since 2015, TEDx and CELSA have joined forces to create an event that represents the school’s values and provides students, alumni and diverse audiences with a unique opportunity to share ideas.
TEDxCelsa guarantees the quality of the content and professionalism of the speakers. It ensures that the event is forward-looking, innovation-focussed and grounded in ideas based on humanism and shared experience. The topics covered are not only inspired by, but they also challenge CELSA’s vision of the professions the school represents.

BEHIND THE SCENES
The team behind TEDxCELSA 2019 is made up of dedicated volunteers, students and alumni. We rely on the school’s clubs and associations to shine a spotlight on this exceptional event. Each one of us have worked hard to make this year’s edition a success and full of great ideas worth spreading.
Thanks to Anaïs Ouennoughi, Christine Taniga-Smith, Bérénice Rietveld.
A team of dedicated coaches, whose kindness and skill are only matched by their capacity to listen, is volunteering their time to prepare the speakers.

This TEDx event is organised independently under a TED license.
